Plasmas Vs LCDs

This my rant/response to this Yahoo! Tech article:

As the technology fades, plasma TVs see huge discounts - Yahoo! Tech

I'm really sick of LCD lobbyist, pretending that LCD's are better than Plasma displays, even high end LCDs have trouble with fast motion and viewing angles. LCD supporters keep touting their just one advantage i.e.: 'power consumption' and the difference is not as big as its marketed to be. LCDs still suck at picture quality where it counts!

Thats why the industry killed CRTs, because they couldn't make high margin profits off them anymore, even though they still have the best picture, and now they're doing it to Plasma displays.

Plasmas can easily handle fast motion like CRTs, for real Blacks (Not LCD's fake Greys), Sports, Games etc, they have very wide viewing angles, unlike LCDs, where even at 10 degrees colors start looking different.

Only thing annoying about Plasma displays is their front glass which is no different than CRT's glass and matters little unless you have a lamp shining directly in front of it. Most of the good Plasma displays are coated with anti-reflective material these days.

Sorry to say people, you pay high dollar for crappy displays when you buy LCDs. Damn the false marketing!

Kudos to Panasonic, Samsung and Hitachi for their good Plasma displays.

Yahoo! Tech people, please don't rehash press releases, but do some research first, like:

FiiO E11 Portable Headphone Amplifier With Micca Accessory Pack - Review

Micca Distributor - 5/5
Seller shipped very promptly and I received the package a day before the start of the estimated delivery dates.

Package was shipped via USPS in a bubble wrap soft package. I would've preferred a similar sized small hard cardboard box instead for better protection.

I really appreciate the 100mAh bigger extra battery and universal (battery) charger by Scud. It's very thoughtful, useful and economical at this price.

Scud Universal Charger SFC-519 - 4/5
The charger has a NEMA 1-15 electrical plug, if you're outside the United States, you might need an adapter for sockets. Build quality is above average and the charger can be technically used to charge batteries of various mAh types. The charger's apple logo lights up when a battery is connected and starts blinking rainbow colors while charging.

It's too soon to comment on this battery's longevity. I haven't had any issues afte…

Pentax K-30 - YouTube reviews and impressions

Pentax K-30. Photo taken with a Samsung Captivate Glide
Got myself a Pentax K-30 dslr with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL weather resistant (wr) zoom lens. Romeo over at Salam Stores Wafi, Dubai was a big help and I got a pretty good deal, near US Amazon prices with a WR lens (happy face).
Still learning the ins and out. Since there is not much posted about Pentax. Here's a collection of reviews and impressions I found on YouTube. I made a playlist of some interesting ones I found. This should help people decide if they want to go for this awesome camera :D

How to record VoIP calls in Windows

I came upon this step by step explanation on how to record calls from VoIP, Skype, Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger/MSN Messenger, and Google Talk or any other VoIP applications one might use like any of the Betamax services like Low rate VoIP or VoipStunt.

From my initial research currently there is only one free solution (for now) that lets you easily record VoIP calls without any duration restrictions, that application is Solicall (www.Solicall.com).

If you want to understand, why we have to do this then download this podcast:

I read a few instructions on the Net and experimented a little bit to figure out how you can record a Skype call in Windows without any fancy commercial plugins. The following instructions work fine for me when I'm using a headset (using loudspeakers woul…
